& # 39; I grew up in Los Angeles, and as a kid I thought I would be a photographer or a soccer star. In a million years, I didn't think I would be a model. When I was 14, I discovered it was slow; I first started when I was 18, and I moved to New York a year later to pursue it. I was always such a young man, and suddenly everything changed – I lived with Barney's and bought everything. Carolyn Murphy has always been one of my mentors, and when I was a young model, she would drill into me that modeling is a business, and professionalism is important. So many young girls come here and love modeling like a lifestyle. I've definitely had enough for any person, but I'm a professional when I go to work. I'm always the first person on the play – it's just something set in me.
I've always been attracted to kids, and I've always wanted to be a mom, but I've definitely felt more pressure to be pregnant. With my daughter, I was four or five months after I gave birth to the Victoria & # 39; s Secret Show – no one told me I should lose weight or anything, but I want to look good. I still ate a ton because you have to nurse, but everything was really clean. This time I felt no pressure, and it was delicious. If you look at the CFDA photos, I'm wearing this gorgeous Brandon Maxwell dress and you can totally see my little pregnancy power. But it is beautiful! My beautiful baby boy came out of the belly. There is also less pressure on the day, because we now live in Nashville. My husband is from Nashville, and when Dixie started school, we decided to stay there full time. There are no paparazzi, and I don't have to worry about wearing the cutest look all the time. (Laughs)
Two years ago, I decided to start my perfume line. Each of the four flavors is based on a place that is important to me, and Haven, the first to be launched, is home-based. I loved my mother's perfume – so much that I sprayed it all over. My mom got me a rose water spray so I could have something of my own, and I did it for my daughter as well. She pulls on my perfumes – since I created my own line, I come home and find her in her bunk and give a beauty treatment to her dolls with the monsters. It's very … fragrant. (Laughter) I then got her rose water spray. We actually cuddled one day and she smelled so good that I went back and sprayed all the samples to find the one that smelled to her. Now it's one of my favorite scents in the whole world – it's the last one in my collection to come out.
I'm nursing right now – my beauty routine is always pretty natural, but when I'm pregnant or nursing, it's even more extreme. There are so many incredible natural products now that weren't the first time I was pregnant, but all the ingredients can still be confusing. Sometimes I will personally have DM trademarks and ask: & # 39; Is there anything in your products that I should avoid? Can you help me get through this? & # 39; This is usually very helpful. You can't use retinol if you're pregnant or nursing, but when I'm not, I like Shani Darden's Retinol reform. I see her in LA too – I'm a mom, I have a seven month old, I don't sleep, and when I leave her I feel so fresh. In New York, I see Joanna Czech, or I get Triad Facials from Dr. Colbert, but I couldn't do it in a while.

I have a kind of two routines: the fast one when I'm half asleep to get my kids to school, and then my more luxurious one during bedtime. That's when I run in the bath and & # 39; Hamilton & # 39; play … (laughter) I would usually get up, brush my teeth, put on deodorant and moisturizer and bring my daughter to school. If my son goes nine hours, I will do my skin care again. I start with my makeup because I'm usually too lazy to do it at night. I will use Burt's Beef wipes, or these beautiful coconut rms from RMS, which is better when there is a lot of makeup. Then I use Tata Harper's abrasive detergent and take it off with a warm towel. Then I use Tata Harper's Brightening Essence on a cotton ball, which removes all excess dirt and makes my skin shiny, and then maybe a vitamin C serum from Kora Organics. Miranda (Kerr) is one of my best friends, and she taught me about organic and natural things 15 years ago. Then at night I use Tata Harper's Moisturizer, or the Crème Riche, which I keep next to my bed. I'm not trying to sound like a Tata Harper ad, but I like her rule a lot.
I love MAC Face and Body, but I tried not to use it while pregnant and nursing. It was so hard to find something comparable – it's nice cover, but I can still see my freckles. The closest I've come is a tinted face oil I bought in the clean part of Sephora in Nashville – the Kosas one, have you seen it? This is my new favorite thing. I use it with RMS Un Cover-Up around my nose, under my eyes and around my lips. If I have to put on makeup for an occasion, I like when makeup artists put on my freckles. Hung (Vanngo) made my make-up the night before and used this product called Freck – it's such a good trick. It makes me look like me. I'm the RMS indicator square, and if I get really jealous, I'll take out the Charlotte Tilbury bronzer and use it on my cheekbones and forehead.
I don't like eyeshadow because I find that it can age me, but one of my favorite makeup artists is to wrap my eyelids. I put a little bronzer in the crease, and it gives my eyes a nice depth. I look pretty, but not makeup. Then I use mascara. I've been very fond of Marc Jacobs mascara lately – it's really thick and black. When I just fill my eyebrows, my face suddenly looks more structured. I went through so many different pencils and put in Anastasia Brow Wiz Medium brown is perfect for me. I like that the pencil is slightly lighter than my natural eyebrows. Right now, I'm wearing my favorite Serge Lutens lip liner, which is perfect for contouring the lip – if you pull out your lips & # 39; it just looks like the shadow of your lip. Michael Kors always asks me: & # 39; Is this your lip color? & # 39; It's actually a bit more special. In most photos, I wear either Tom Ford's Sable Smoke. And I like Windsor Edwards lip balm – all the packaging is biodegradable and the whole line is very sustainable and conscious.
I didn't dye my hair long when I was pregnant. I am naturally very dark, so I would outgrow it and then cut it, and eventually it was all one color. Tracey Cunningham does my hair in LA, and she's the sweetest, kindest woman – she's like family. & # 39; A few months after my son was born, I asked if she could send one of her assistants to Nashville to give me highlights, and Tracey was on the next flight. She lands in Nashville, does my coloring, eats with me, and then goes home on the next flight. I feel like a new woman – if you're a mom, it's easy to forget to do things that make you feel good. I needed mommy love, you know? When I was working, I was doing it more, but when I was home, maybe I was doing it every three days. My natural texture is really curly, but if I let it dry in braids, the top will stay a bit shallower. I use a training spray from Christophe Robin, make a metal comb and then put it in braids or, if I need something easier, a sandwich. I also really love Olaplex, but for most of my pregnancy I stopped using it. The other day, however, I noticed that it was in the clean section of Sephora, and I am so glad it was back in my life. They need to promote it more!

FRAGRANCE + BODY + NAILS
I wanted to create four scents because I always use more than one scent. Some days I want something brighter, other days I want something more moody … I usually go for something with jasmine or rose flowers. In addition to my own scents, I like Jason Wu's and Stella McCartney's – the hair is actually called Lily (Ed note: discontinued). It's in a beautiful vintage y-bottle. I think Byredo makes such nice scents. And I always like Tom Ford Jasmin Rouge.
I try to bathe every morning, and I love Goop's bath salts. There is mustard, after all, and it smells so good. I always have Jason body wash from Whole Foods, or the rose one or the lavender, and I use it on Dixie as well. When I go to a big event, I use normal deodorant, but now I'm completely on the crystal stick. Manicures are my favorite concession – I can go once a week, if I can. For me, fresh heaven is about having fresh nails. This is my first dig in nail art, because my perfume launch – MoMo came to me to do it. I wanted a few roses and I asked her to do one on each ring finger, but she said they should be sporadic. Teach me the way of nail art, MoMo! Usually I just do a buff or OPI passion, which is a very pleasant nude. You can't go wrong. & # 39;
